Mindy's Bio
Mindy Carter grew up in Louisville, KY. She began singing and performing at a very early age. After performing in many different types of venues, she was selected to participate in KY Governor’s School for the Arts. She then received a voice scholarship to James Madison University. There she participated in the nationally known show choir "The Madisonians". In 1996, she received her bachelors' degree in vocal music education.
Mindy spent the summers of her college career performing at various theme parks. She had her first professional singing opportunity at Kings Island in Cincinnati, Oh at the age of 18. The next summer she moved to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. to perform as a featured jazz singer with the Starlight Orchestra. Her talents then took her across seas as a performer on various 5-star cruise lines. From Broadway to Swing, and Pop to Country, she was featured as a lead singer.
In between cruise ship contracts, she performed at various regional theaters and 5-star hotels, such as the prestigious Broadmore Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO. She also performed for the “Red Hot and Blue” production company based in Branson, MO. Mindy then moved to New York City to concentrate on writing music and to learn about the recording industry. She spent a lot of time in Nashville and New York going to seminars and speaking to publishers, then completed her first contemporary Christian demo cd.
After finishing her demo in 2002, Mindy moved to Atlanta, GA where she now calls home. She became the praise team leader at Town Lake Community Church for a year, and then moved on to perform with the nationally known Mount Paran Church Choir.
Today, Mindy feels very fortunate to find success in her real passion: performing and teaching music. Mindy currently performs in wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, demo recordings and other special events. Her Jazz Combo, Mindy Carter Jazz, performs on a regular basis at many types of venues. In addition, Mindy has the rewarding experience of leading the contemporary praise team at North Avenue Presbyterian Church
